Zipair plans to operate trans Pacific services once it gains ETOPS approval for its reconfigured Boeing 787-8s in 2020 (AINonline, 11-Feb-2020). The LCC start up plans to convert the configuration of the 787-8s from 206 seats to a two class 290 seat layout. Zipair president Shingo Nishida said the carrier plans to reduce the aircraft weight by reducing the number of galleys from four to three, removing seat monitors, and using lightweight synthetic leather for the seat upholstery.
