Western Australia Premier details inquiry into airfares on regular public transport routes

14 August, 2017

Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan announced the West Australian Government Economics and Industry Standing Committee will hold an inquiry into airfares on regular public transport (RPT) air routes in regional Western Australia (The Sunday Times, 13-Aug-2017). In particular, the Committee will evaluate factors contributing to the current high cost of regional airfares and their impacts from a business, tourism and social perspective. In addition, it will look at State Government regulatory processes on the cost and efficiency of regional air services and possible avenues to limit increases to airfares without undermining the commercial viability of RPT services. A report will be made by the end of Nov-2017.
