Wanaka Stakeholders Group unveils Wanaka Airport expansion independent report findings

Wanaka Stakeholders Group reported (09-Sep-2019) Wanaka Airport‘s proposed NZD400 million (USD257.1 million) expansion would require one passenger aircraft to take off and land every 10 minutes “if the industry standard investment return is to be realised”, according to a new independent report. The report concludes the airport would require a flow of 3.14 million passenger movements p/a, equating to approximately 26,200 landings and takeoffs. Wanaka Stakeholders Group chair Michael Ross stated the results are “revealing” and has known the “investment would require the development of a very busy airport with huge throughput in order to provide reasonable returns to shareholders”.
