VNAT expects Chinese visitors to exceed five million in 2018, encourages more balanced distribution

Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) deputy head Ha Van Sieu commented that up to 500 frequencies, primarily charter, are carrying visitors from 20 areas in China to Vietnam's Khanh Hoa province, Quang Ninh province, Danang City, Hanoi City, HCMC and Phu Quoc Island per week (vietnamnet.vn, 11-Sep-2018). Chinese tourists represent up to 60% of overall international visitors to Nha Trang City, and 30% of international visitors to Danang City. Mr Sieu stated: "Some destinations tend to face an overload of services due to the large concentration of visitors at tourist spots". VNAT DG Nguyen Van Tuan also pointed out it is necessary to "density of visitors in populous tourist destinations, such as Nha Trang City" and encourage more activity to other places like Phu Quoc Island. He added Vietnam expects to accommodate more than five million Chinese tourists in 2018, compared to four million in 2017.
