VLM to refocus operations as ACMI operator, cancels majority of scheduled services

    SHS Aviation announced (06-Aug-2018) VLM Airlines will “temporarily reduce its activities” in the scheduled airline market, refocusing operations to the ACMI sector. VLM Airlines will continue scheduled AntwerpLondon City and Zurich-London City services, however will suspend services from Antwerp to AberdeenBirminghamCologne/BonnMariborMunich and Rostock “in the coming weeks”. Planned routes from Antwerp and Oostende/Brugges to Manchester will be postponed. VLM already placed one aircraft with a fixed crew at The Aviation Factory, a private jet rental service in Antwerp. VLM Airlines CEO Johan Maertens confirmed the airline’s fleet will be reduced in line with the new business plan. He said: “It is no secret that we have been busy preparing the replacement of the Fokker 50 aircraft for some time now.
