Viva Aerobus reports 42% increase in operating income in 2Q2019

    Grupo Viva Aerobus CEO Gian Carlo Nucci commented (24-Jul-2019) on 2Q2019 results stating: “In a nutshell [results] are summarized in our very target of strengthening our position as the fastest growing airline in terms of passengers, route expansion and profitability”. The carrier reported a 42.1% year-on-year increase in operating income during the quarter. The airline detailed 2Q2019 revenues as follows:

    • Total operating revenue increased 32.2% year-on-year driven by a 23.8% increase in passengers and 6.7% increase in average fare per passenger;
    • Passenger revenue increased 34.7%, attributed to a 30.8% increase in capacity (ASK). Load factor was 89.8%;
