Visitor arrivals to Philippines up 15% to 8.26m in 2019, exceeding planned target

Philippines Department of Tourism reported (18-Feb-2020) 8.3 million international visitor arrivals to Philippines in the 12 months ended Dec-2019, an increase of 15.2% year-on-year, exceeding the 8.2 million annual target set in the National Tourism Development Plan for 2016-2022. Details of visitor arrivals are as follow:

  • Visitor arrivals: 8.26 million, +15.2% year-on-year;
    • South Korea: 1.98 million, +22.5%;
    • China: 1.74 million, +38.6%;
    • US: 1.06 million, +2.9%;
    • Japan: 682,788, +8.1%;
    • Taiwan: 327,273, +35.0%;
    • Australia: 286,170, +2.3%;
    • Canada: 238,850, +5.5%;
    • UK: 209,206, +4.1%;
    • Singapore: 158,595, -7.7%;
    • Malaysia: 139,882, -3.7%;
    • India: 134,963, +11.4%;
