Visitor arrivals to Hong Kong up 11% to 65m in 2018, arrivals from mainland China up 15%

    Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) reported (31-Jan-2019) visitor arrivals to Hong Kong for Dec-2018 and the year 2018. Details include:

      • Visitor arrivals: 6.6 million, +17.9% year-on-year;
        • Mainland China: 5.1 million, +21.0%;
        • Short haul (excludes mainland China): 995,526, +10.4%;
          • Taiwan: 177,926, +1.8%;
          • South Korea: 136,800, +3.7%;
          • Japan: 126,195, +15.2%;
          • Singapore: 84,667, +8.5%;
          • Malaysia: 72,267, -0.9%;
          • Thailand: 64,486, +8.2%;
          • Philippines: 56,067, -12.2%;
          • Indonesia: 52,010, -4.9%;
        • Long haul: 402,369, +3.5%;
          • US: 117,517, +7.0%;
          • Australia: 61,122, +11.8%;
          • UK: 46,367, -0.2%;
