visitBerlin calls for development of long haul operations

20 September, 2018

Berlin Tourism & Congress GmbH CEO and visitBerlin CEO Burkhard Kieker called for the development of long haul, nonstop services from Berlin (Berliner Zeitung, 19-Sep-2018). "We are no longer prepared to accept the status quo that settled after World War II", he said. As previously reported by CAPA, Lufthansa was not allowed to fly to the divided city until Germany was reunited in 1990. Mr Kieker argued long haul demand is growing, while business and first class passengers have increased 20% over the past four years.
