Vietnam Airlines to lease regional jets as A321neo deliveries delayed

29 June, 2018

CAPA - Centre for Aviation, in a report entitled: 'Vietnam Airlines fleet: A321neo delays impact growth', stated (27-Jun-2018) the delivery of Vietnam Airlines' first A321neo was delayed until Dec-2018 due to delays in the Pratt & Whitney PW1100 engine programme. The aircraft is expected to be the airline's only A321neo delivery for 2018. The airline originally planned to receive 10 A321neos in 2018 and 10 in 2019. The carrier aims to wet lease regional jets in summer 2018 to provide supplemental capacity and assist its ongoing evaluation of regional aircraft to replace its ATR 72s. The airline will have the opportunity to re-accelerate expansion in 2019 as it catches up with A321neo deliveries and begins receiving Boeing 787-10s. [more - CAPA Analysis]
