US Senate passes streamlined cabotage provision in American Samoa

US Congresswoman Aumua Amata, via her official Facebook account, reported (03-Oct-2018) the US Senate passed a US FAA reauthorisation bill including a cabotage provision in American Samoa. The provision streamlines requirements for international carriers serving routes between Tutuila and Manu’a, reducing exemption application periods from every 30 days to every six months. “This change will help hold down costs for our people as they travel between Manu’a and Tutuila, and along with the recently announced multimillion dollar federal transportation project for better pavement at our Pago Pago Tafuna International Airport, we continue to see important successes”, Ms Amata stated. The bill is to be sent to US President Donald Trump to be signed into law.
