US economy loses USD65bn in 2018 due to workers failing to use vacation days

US Travel Association reported (22-Jan-2020) more than USD65 billion was lost in benefits in 2018, up 9% year-on-year, due to American workers failing to use their vacation days. More than USD151 billion in travel spending could be generated for the US economy if American workers travelled around America during their time off, creating an additional two million jobs. In order to help Americans plan their holidays, the US Travel Association introduced a Vacation Planning Tool that will plot out trips and holidays compatible with earned time off.
