US domestic RPKs grew 4.5% in 2019, but growth slowed over 2H2019

IATA, via its Air Passenger Monthly Analysis for Dec-2019, reported (06-Feb-2020) US domestic RPKs grew 4.5% year-on-year in 2019. Traffic slowed from 5.4% growth in 2018 on the back of a cooling economic backdrop in 2H2019, weaker business confidence and disruption from the grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX. Passenger volumes posted robust performance in Dec-2019, up a "brisk" 10.5% due to the later timing of Thanksgiving in 2019. [more - original PR]
