US CBP and WTTC join forces to increase security with facial biometrics

31 October, 2018

World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) announced (31-Oct-2018) it is working with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to strengthen US borders and increase security via facial biometrics. Through its 'Seamless Traveller Journey' solution, WTTC plans to deploy biometric technology in travel and tourism and apply it on a country-by-country basis throughout the travel journey. CBP is currently testing biometric exits at 15 major airports across the US, as well as facial comparison technology for arrival processing at 14 locations. The first biometric pilot covering end-to-end travel is expected to be deployed in 1H2019, as previously reported by CAPA. [more - original PR]
