US airports are reportedly considering implementing programmes which will allow people who are not passengers to travel beyond security checkpoints and engage in 'terminal tourism' (Fortune/Travel Pulse, 03-Jul-2019). Terminal tourists will be granted a non-traveller pass to go through security checkpoints pursuant to having had background checks and will be able to see friends and family among other things. Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport assistant general manager of commercial development Paul Brown noted the non-traveller programme is an "appealing prospect", but added the additional foot traffic may further strain security checkpoints.
