United Airlines proposes adding 24 more gates at Denver International Airport

United Airlines is requesting permission from the Denver City Council to amend its lease at Denver International Airport, in order to accommodate an additional 24 gates (The Denver Post, 04-Jan-2020). United Airlines VP for Denver International Airport Steve Jaquith stated: "The expansion is really driven from the fact that over the last several years United has embraced a midcontinent growth strategy". Denver International Airport spokeswoman Emily Williams said the airport is "currently in active use and lease negotiations with other airlines but cannot confirm yet when these will be finalised". As previously reported by CAPA, Denver International Airport is undergoing a USD1.5 billion gate expansion project which includes adding 39 gates to the airport by 2021.
