United Airlines president: ‘The higher the connectivity, the more profitable the hub’

United Airlines president Scott Kirby stated passengers choose the airline that ensures they reach the most places in the easiest way, saying “that’s the number one factor” (Chicago Business Journal, 14-Apr-2018). Mr Kirby noted: “If you plot it out by hub, it’s almost a straight line – the higher the connectivity, the more profitable the hub”. United aims to improve connectivity and scale at its hubs at Chicago O’Hare, Denver and Houston George bush, while focusing on smaller regional markets.
