United Airlines estimates revenues will 'plateau' at 50% until creation of vaccine

27 July, 2020

United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby estimates revenue will return to 50% of 2019 levels in a "pre-vaccine world", before then "quickly" returning to 100% as the carrier "gets past a vaccine that is widely distributed" (CNBC, 22-Jul-2020). "Our guess is that we're going to plateau at about 50% before we get to a vaccine", he stated. Mr Kirby said he is "confident" the carrier will be able to "make it through the crisis without anymore funding", however this will "have an impact on employment".
