Ukraine to discuss visa liberalisation with UK and consider biometric visa regime for Russia

4 September, 2018

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin stated Ukraine plans to resume discussions on visa liberalisation with the UK in Oct-2018 as the visa free regime provided as part of an agreement with the EU does not extend to the UK (Ukrinform/ICTV/news.ru, 03/04-Sep-2018). Mr Klimkin said: "We expect a certain progress in this direction. However, conclusion of an agreement on simplified regime is unlikely to be a matter of one or two years". Mr Klimkin also proposed to introduce a biometric visa regime for the citizens of Russia to enhance monitoring of border entry.
