Uiltrasporti union 'alarmed' about progress on Alitalia restructuring negotiations

11 March, 2019

Uiltrasporti general secretary Claudio Tarlazzi said the union is "alarmed" about negotiations between the Italian railway operator Ferrovie dello Stato and easyJet and Delta Air Lines concerning potential investment in Alitalia (travelnonstop.com, 06-Mar-2019). As previously reported by CAPA, the Italian Government plans to merge the airline and the rail operator and launch a new restructuring for the carrier. Delta Air Lines and easyJet have reportedly been involved in talks to invest up to EUR400 million in the airline, as part of a consortium. Mr Tarlazzi said it is imperative Alitalia is refinanced and relaunched, rather than downsized or split up.
