Uber to provide financial assistance to self isolated drivers amid coronavirus outbreak

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, in an email, announced (10-Mar-2020) that during the coronavirus outbreak it is taking precautionary measures to support public health authorities' efforts against the virus, including:

  • Temporary suspension of accounts of drivers/riders confirmed to have contracted or been exposed to COVID-19;
  • Drivers or delivery persons who are diagnosed with COVID-19 or who are asked to self isolate by a public health authority will receive financial assistance for up to 14 days while their account is on hold;
  • Working to provide drivers with disinfectants to help them keep their cars clean.
