Uber issued a letter to the Phoenix Aviation Department on 13-Dec-2019, stating it could cease operations at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport effective Jan-2020 if the Phoenix City Council goes ahead with a plan to impose a USD4 per ride fee for trips to or from the airport (FOXBusiness, 17-Dec-2019). The fee was approved by an initial council vote in Oct-2019 will be imposed from 2020, with a 25% annual increase out to 2024. A second vote was to be held on 87-Dec-2019.
