Uber is now the most frequent line item in expense reports, according to Serko

Analysis of employee expense report data for companies across Asia Pacific using expense travel management provider, Serko, shows Uber is now the number one most frequent line item in expense reports.

Serko CEO Darrin Grafton said: "Our research shows that people are expensing Uber more frequently than any other vendor, which is no surprise as more organisations across the globe are turning to Uber for Business for employee ground transportation. In response to feedback from CFOs we now have an integration with Uber for Business to give companies total visibility and control over that spend. This will also make the employee experience of expensing those rides as easy as it is to get a ride with Uber in the first place."

Serko and Uber for Business Integration

Employees using Serko's Expense app capture images of receipts with their phone, or forward invoices by email to their Expense dashboard, adding supplementary information such as expense category, project code or entertainment guests on the fly.

The integration with Uber for Business makes using Serko's Expense app even smoother by sending ride information directly to the expense dashboard, immediately available for approval and reconciliation.

"CFOs can now digitise the entire expense collection, approval and management process - maximising data integrity, minimising fraud and giving the CFO greater visibility and control over T&E", Grafton said.

Given T&E is traditionally the second largest variable operating expense line item behind salaries, the ability to easily get control of it has driven significant demand from CFOs, with Serko's expense business alone growing 30 per cent in just the past 12 months.

Uber for Business Lead Australia & NZ Georgia Foster said: "We work with thousands of local companies who use Uber for Business to enable time and cost savings, and help their employees access a safe, affordable and reliable ride from A to B for business travel. Integrations with expense partners give business travellers a seamless experience when riding with Uber, while offering businesses the billing, reporting and management tools that they need."

Benefits of the Integration according to Serko:

  • Improved visibility and reporting: Get detailed trip views and additional data for visibility into ground spend, cost-savings and business traveller insights through the Uber for Business dashboard.
  • Easy management for Admins: Uber rides will now also appear in your organisation's Serko Zeno Expense dashboard for easy tracking and reporting.
  • Improved Employee Experience: Give your employees a safe, reliable way to travel for work, from a trusted global provider.
  • Set it and forget it: Add your people. Define how you want them to use your account by setting customised rules for things like vehicle class or spend allowance. The result: You and your team don't have to worry about out-of-policy trips.
