TTF estimates Mardi Gras will inject more than USD31m into local visitor economy

Tourism & Transport Forum Australia (TTF) estimated (02-Mar-2018) the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras event will inject more than AUD40 million (USD31 million) into local businesses. According to TTF, the 2017 event attracted more than 38,000 overnight visitors. TTF chief executive Margy Osmond said many of these visitors choose to stay for a week or more when they visit and international visitors will "also often travel out of Sydney to holiday in places such as North Queensland or Melbourne".
