Tourism Tasmania records fastest international visitor growth of any Australian state/territory

Tourism Tasmania CEO John Fitzgerald reported (14-Mar-2018) a record 279,000 international visitors to the state for the year ended Dec-2017, up 18% year-on-year. The state had the highest rate of international growth of all Australian states and territories. Exceptional growth was recorded from China (+60%), Canada (+53%), Germany (+45%) and the US (+33%). International visitor spending was AUD497 million (USD402 million) with international leisure visitors staying an average 12.3 nights in the state compared to an average 8.6 nights for domestic leisure visitors.
