Tourism Tasmania, via its Annual Report 2016-2017, reported (31-Oct-2017) the state's tourism industry consists of around 2000 separate businesses. It directly and indirectly supports around 37,400 jobs in Tasmania or 15.6% of total Tasmanian employment, and contributes around AUD2.8 billion (USD2.1 billion) to the economy, amounting to 10.7% of the gross state product. Key tourism highlights for 2016-2017 were:
- Tourism arrivals: 1,269,600, +9% year-on-year;
- Leisure arrivals: 966,200, +12%;
