Tourism New Zealand: NZ receives high visitor spend from global arrivals

Tourism New Zealand stated (23-May-2019) international tourists are spending NZD11.2 billion (USD7.3 billion) p/a in the country. Tourism New Zealand CEO Stephen England-Hall stated: "Although we're a niche destination attracting just 0.3 per cent of global arrivals, we are getting 0.7 per cent of global visitor spend". Mr England-Hall additionally outlined that tourism supports large and small business, local communities, and brings "global experts to New Zealand and growing our industries and specialist knowledge".
