Tourism Industry Aotearoa outlines results from tourism business survey

Tourism Industry Aotearoa (TIA) conducted (05-May-2020) a survey of its 1600 members to provide an assessment of how tourism businesses are navigating the crisis, with 569 members responding to the survey:

  • 78% of respondents are taking "major steps" to adapt their businesses, with 33% in hibernation for the foreseeable future, 40% reducing their business size;
  • 83% of respondents are accessing the Employee Wage Subsidy Scheme and 30% accessing tax relief;
  • Respondents indicated they would normally have employed 27,635 full time staff in April, which has been halved due to coronavirus. [more - original PR]
