8 February, 2018

Tourism Fiji CEO Matthew Stoeckel reported the addition of direct charter services from China helped to raise overall tourism arrivals in 2017 (Fiji Times, 08-Feb-2018). Fiji Bureau of Statistics data showed arrivals by nearly 49,000 Chinese nationals for the year, making China the country's fourth largest source market. Mr Stoeckel noted that companies such as Rosie Holidays, which has partnered with Fiji Airways for Chinese charters to Hangzhou, has made an impact in market. Mr Stoeckel said the investment by Rosie Holidays in the " vast and emerging market" has chontirbuted significantly to success in China and "importantly aligns with Tourism Fiji's strategy to drive visitor arrivals in our low season".
