Tourism Council WA urges appointment of full time CEO for Tourism WA

13 March, 2018

Tourism Council Western Australia (WA) CEO Evan Hall urged (13-Mar-2018) the Western Australian State Government to appoint a "a dedicated, full time CEO with tourism marketing experience" to lead Tourism WA, the government body responsible for promoting Western Australia as a tourism destination. Mr Hall said the bureaucratisation of the state's tourism and international education marketing had resulted in a lack of specialised leadership at the top of Tourism WA. He stated the position of Tourism WA CEO is currently being filled on a part time basis by the DG of the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science & Innovation Stephen Wood, "who has no prior experience in tourism". In addition the head of marketing position at Tourism WA is "substantially vacant" said Mr Hall. Tourism WA was amalgamated into the new portfolio of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation as of 01-Jul-2017. [more - original PR]
