Tennant Creek Airport to embark on infrastructure upgrade

    NT Airports announced (27-Mar-2019) an AUD1.4 million (USD990,000) infrastructure project to upgrade Tennant Creek Airport. Details include:

    • Improving airstrip lighting system, including the supply and installation of a precision approach parth indicator lighting system;
    • Installing animal proof fencing;
    • Increasing apron capacity to allow multiple airport users, including ad hoc, commerical scheduled services operated by Air North and fly-in fly-out operators to access to apron facilities at any one time.

    The infrastructure upgrade is planned to commence in Jun-2019 with works due for completion by Jun-2020. NT Airports also received a AUD700,000 (USD495,000) grant from from the Federal Government for the upgrades, with NT Airports to match the funding dollar for dollar.
