Tauranga City Council allocates extra USD650k for Tauranga Airport expansion programme

Tauranga City Council approved almost NZD1 million (USD650,000) in additional funding for Tauranga Airport's expansion programme to allow for overspend (NZ Herald, 17-May-2019). The project has required an investment of NZD13.2 million (USD8.6 million) to date, with the final investment estimated to be NZD14.3 million (USD9.3 million), an overspend of NZD987,000 (USD644,000). As previously reported by CAPA, the expansion will increase the terminal size from 1700sqm to 3800sqm, and includes a check in area, arrival area, expanded Air New Zealand Regional lounge and additional capacity for back of house operations.
