Taiwan prepares USD140m to subsidise aviation industry, 'biggest victim' of coronavirus

Taiwan's Minister of Transportation and Communications Lin Chia-lung said the Ministry has prepared a TWD4.2 billion (USD140 million) budget to assist the country's aviation industry if the impact from the coronavirus outbreak persists (CNA, 04-Mar-2020). The one off budget includes 25% to subsidise airlines' airport charges to make up for an estimated 25% decline in traffic due. Mr Lin said: "The aviation industry is being hard hit by the epidemic. It is the biggest victim".
