Sydney Airport expects continued downturn in traffic

Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport stated (11-Aug-2020) whilst the group delivered a solid start to the 2020 financial year, the subsequent spread of COVID-19 saw the aviation industry dramatically impacted from late Feb-2020. Since this time, passenger traffic through Sydney Airport has been materially impacted, resulting in a 57.3% year-on-year decrease in international traffic and a 56.1% drop in domestic traffic in 1H2020. The airport recorded nine million passengers in 1Q2020 and 356,000 in 2Q2020. The group expects the downturn in passenger traffic to persist until government travel restrictions are eased.
