SVG Prime Minister: LIAT financing issues 'are reaching a critical point'

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves reportedly said LIAT's financing issues "are reaching a critical point" (RJR News/WIC News/Aviacion al Dia/Dominica News Online/The Daily Herald, 21/22-Apr-2019). Dr Gonsalves said without immediate financing it is likely "there will be a transitional restructuring leading to a closure of LIAT". He added that LIAT shareholders will likely be required to request Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) sell three aircraft owned by CDB and operated by LIAT, decreasing the airline's fleet to seven aircraft.
