Sunshine Coast Council receives CASA approval for airspace change proposal for new runway

14 October, 2019

Sunshine Coast Council welcomed (11-Oct-2019) Australia's Civil Aviation Safety Authority's (CASA) approval of airspace changes to support operation of the new runway currently under construction at Sunshine Coast Airport. With CASA's approval, Airservices Australia can now move to operationalise flight paths to support the opening of the new runway in 2020. As previously reported by CAPA, the new 2450m runway will allow the airport to handle larger, widebody aircraft flying direct from additional domestic airports as well as from across Asia and the Pacific.
