Sunshine Coast Airport plans to more than double passenger numbers and routes by 2040

Sunshine Coast Airport outlined (30-May-2019) the following details of its 'game changing' Draft Master Plan 2040:

  • Double domestic and international destinations to eight by 2040;
  • Increase passengers from 1.2 million p/a to three million p/a;
  • Increase contribution to Gross Regional Product from AUD75 million (USD53 million) p/a to AUD170 million (USD117 million) p/a;
  • Sunshine Coast regional population expected to increase from 350,000 to 500,000;
  • Generate new employment opportunities for the community;
  • Provide an environment that enables all aviation and non aviation partners to expand;
  • Establish Sunshine Coast Airport as an integrated transport hub for the region with provisions for a light rail station and potential for autonomous vehicles;
  • Create specific new airport related precincts to service the growth of the airport;
  • Plan for terminal enhancements to upgrade passenger comfort;
  • Establish Sunshine Coast Airport as a leader in environmental best practice.
