Sunair Aviation, via its official Facebook account, confirmed (08-Jan-2018) plans to relaunch operations, stating: "Sunair would like to wish you all the very best for 2018. We are expecting to be operating shortly and will announce this by relisting our website and 0800 number. Until then we appreciate your patience and loyalty to Sunair". It has been reported that the carrier, inactive since 08-Sep-2017, could resume service within eight weeks (3rd Level New Zealand, 09-Jan-2018). Prior to the grounding, Sunair operated sightseeing charters and scheduled air taxi operations across New Zealand's North Island, using a fleet of Cessna 172s and Piper PA-23 Aztecs.
