SriLankan Airlines to focus on cost cutting measures going ahead: chairman

4 December, 2018

SriLankan Airlines chairman G S Vithanage reportedly stated the board of directors plans to focus heavily on cutting costs, although adding operations will continue as normal to all its existing markets (Daily News, 03-Dec-2018). Due to the cost saving measures, the airline is reportedly unlikely to offer bonuses or salary increases in 2018. Mr Vithanage said SriLankan may also rollout a voluntary retirement scheme to certain employees. The airline will submit a report to the Treasury, although Mr Vithanage pointed out the airline has no plans to apply for any capital injections at this point in time.
