SriLankan Airlines aims to commence Colombo-Sydney service in mid 2020

SriLankan Airlines CEO Vipula Gunatilleka reported the airline aims to commence Colombo-Sydney service in mid 2020, noting "Our daily Melbourne route has been excellent for us, particularly for the Indian market, and we expect Sydney to be similarly appealing" (TTG Media/Daily News, 04/07-Nov-2019). Mr Gunatilleka also noted: "Sri Lanka is a very good half way point from the UK, 10 hours to Colombo, then 10 hours to Sydney". He said SriLankan does not plan to launch services to destinations in New Zealand in the near or medium term.
