Sri Lanka Govt in discussions with SriLankan Airlines to resume services to Frankfurt and Paris

    Sri Lanka‘s Minister of Tourism Promotion Affairs and Aviation Arundika Fernando reported the government commenced discussions with SriLankan Airlines “on the need to resume services to” Frankfurt and/or Paris (Daily FT/Aviation Voice Sri Lanka/Ada Derana, 21/22-Jan-2020). Mr Fernando noted the two destinations “are hubs for the rest of Europe, and direct flights will boost arrivals” to Sri Lanka. He added that the government will consider providing subsidies to the airline to support the resumption of services to one or both destinations. SriLankan Airlines suspended Colombo-Frankfurt service in Oct-2016 and Colombo-Paris service in Nov-2016, according to OAG.
