Spirit Airlines will not 'drag the market to recovery': CEO

27 July, 2020

Spirit Airlines CEO Ted Christie said the carrier is removing capacity in Aug/Sep-2020, "versus the peak" in Jul-2020 (Seeking Alpha, 23-Jul-2020). "I think that shouldn't shock anybody", he continued, noting Aug-2020 and Sep-2020 is an "off peak period" and the carrier does not "intend to try to drag the market to recovery". He stated: "We're going to evaluate it. And that will mean we're going to have to continue to move the network in and out, depending on the seasonality and the pace of the recovery".
