Spirit Airlines to offer WiFi across fleet from summer 2019

Spirit Airlines signed (11-May-2018) an agreement with Thales Group to install WiFi on all its aircraft by summer 2019, as it aims to become the first ULCC in the Americas to offer WiFi. The carrier’s WiFi is projected to provide coverage for 97% of routes upon entry into service. Spirit will offer high speed web browsing and streaming options from an average price of USD6.50, with a cost range expected to be lower or higher based on the route and demand. The technology is expected to further improve once Thales launches SES-17 in 2021, which will increase speeds and coverage. [more – original PR]
