SpiceJet considering plans to order at least 100 Airbus aircraft

26 September, 2019

SpiceJet chairman and MD Ajay Singh reported the LCC is considering plans to place a "sizeable" order for A321LR and A321XLR aircraft, adding: "any aircraft order that SpiceJet places would at least be 100 aircraft" (Bloomberg/Live Mint/Economic Times/The Hindu BusinessLine/Financial Express, 25-Sep-2019). Mr Singh said Airbus "have made us a commercial offer and we are evaluating it", partly due to issues with LCC's Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. He noted that inducting Airbus aircraft into SpiceJet's fleet for the first time will not be "the easiest thing in the world to do, of course - our entire infrastructure is geared for a Boeing fleet, but if this takes too long, we may not have too much of a choice".
