10 March, 2020

Spain's Minister for Health Salvador Illa reported the Spanish government will prohibit air services from Italy for at least two weeks to slow the spread of the coronavirus (Reuters, 10-Mar-2020). Mr Illa said the Ministry recommends "avoiding travel whenever possible, both inside and outside Spain", adding: "If these are not essential trips, we ask you not to travel". He also said the Ministry will also implement bans on indoor gatherings of more than 1000 people in the regions most affected by the virus, including Madrid, Rioja and northern Basque regions, to "avoid the Italian scenario".
