Southwest 'very much on schedule' with Hawaii plans: CEO

4 December, 2018

Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly stated the airline is "very much on schedule" in regards to its upcoming entry into the Hawaii market, noting the US FAA has provided comments on its plans (Skift, 30-Nov-2018). As previously reported by CAPA, the airline is undergoing ETOPS certification process with the FAA, as it seeks to enter the Hawaii market. The launch of service can take place "within a very short period of weeks" after receiving approval, Mr Kelly said, but "pinning it down to exactly what date, we are not in total control of it". He added: "It always takes a little bit longer than you would like. But we are close".
