Southwest: American and JetBlue do not warrant extra US-Havana frequencies

    Southwest Airlines stated (30-Jul-2018) its application for an additional TampaHavana frequency will increase intergateway competition. The airline pointed out Miami and Fort Lauderdalemarkets are “currently well served”, however Tampa is “significantly underserved” as measured by Cuban-Americanresidents per departure. American Airlines has already “significantly” more frequencies than any other carrier and should not receive “yet another” allocation, especially as it has requested “flexibility” to down gauge all of its Havana frequencies. JetBlue Airways also does not warrant an additional Fort Lauderdale frequency, Southwest noted. [more – original PR]
