Southwest Airlines working with GEE and Panasonic Avionics on its WiFi connectivity plans

27 November, 2018

Southwest Airlines confirmed it is working closely with both Global Eagle Entertainment (GEE) and Panasonic Avionics as it evaluates "what service is offered on what aircraft", although the carrier is "not in the position to confirm additional fleet plans" for inflight WiFi connectivity systems (Business Journal/Runway Girl Network, 27-Nov-2018). Southwest Airlines stated it will require a "pretty robust system" to equip its fleet of nearly 750 aircraft and is "working diligently to allocate the appropriate resources necessary to keep up with demand and to provide a product that performs to our customers' expectations". The carrier announced a dual source strategy to meet its inflight connectivity needs in late 2016.
