Southwest Airlines: Grounded 737 MAX aircraft would take 30 to 60 days to return to service

Southwest Airlines spokesperson Brany King reported it will take the carrier between 30 and 60 days to return its Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to service once the regulatory grounding of the aircraft is lifted (AP, 14-May-2019). Ms King said Boeing has not yet provided a timeline for when the aircraft will be cleared to return to service. Boeing has completed and test flown a fix for the aircraft's manoeuvering characteristics augmentation system, which was linked to the recent crashes of 737 MAX aircraft operated by Lion Air and Ethiopian Airlines, but the software fix has not been approved by the US FAA yet.
