Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly stated the grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX is “obviously extending well beyond what I had hoped”, adding he is “sure” the 737 MAX will need to be taking out of service beyond 01-Oct-2019 (CNBC/Bloomberg, 01/02-Jul-2019). He noted the airline will also “see whatever other modifications we might need to make for our plans for this year”.
